Job Description
Position Summary:
Monitors and patrols assigned areas to ensure a safe environment for residents and associates while minimizing opportunities for loss or damage. Anticipates potential issues and responds to disturbances or prohibited conduct. Reacts promptly to emergency situations as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are typical for this position. This list is not exhaustive, and other responsibilities may be assigned as needed. Maintain thorough knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, service procedures, and standards. Ensure that standards are consistently maintained at a superior level. Understand the proper use and maintenance of all equipment and use it only as intended. Be willing and able to be trained in performing basic maintenance tasks as needed. Anticipate the needs of residents, guests, and staff, responding promptly and acknowledging all interactions. Maintain positive relationships with residents, guests, and staff at all times. Monitor and uphold cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in assigned areas. Participate in staff activities designed to promote teamwork, unity, and morale. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position reports directly to the Department Director but is expected to perform independently and exercise sound judgment. The role does not include supervision of other associates.Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Educational Requirements and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Previous security experience required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to read, write, follow written and verbal instructions, and communicate effectively in English. Ability to work courteously and patiently with the elderly, demonstrating compassion. Ability to perform duties with respect for residents' rights and maintain integrity and discretion in handling health information. Strong interpersonal skills.Technical Skills:
Knowledge of security and safety practices and procedures, including relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines applicable to long-term healthcare.Physical/Sensory Requirements:
On a daily basis, must be able to: Sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, and perform fine motor tasks. Lift up to 25 pounds unassisted regularly. Maintain normal vision (corrective measures acceptable), depth perception, and color recognition. Hear and distinguish normal tones and identify the nature of sounds. Communicate effectively and convey detailed instructions clearly and promptly.Environmental Adaptability and Safety:
Work in well-lit, well-ventilated areas. Tolerate occasional exposure to dust, fumes, odors, water, and noise. Handle frequent interruptions and interactions with hostile or emotionally upset individuals. Be willing to work beyond normal hours, including weekends, and perform other positions as needed.
