BASIC PURPOSE A
Campus Safety Officer is responsible to provide for the safety of all members of the college community and to protect the assets of the College and those of its constituents. Campus Safety Officers will strive to promote an atmosphere that is safe and secure and thereby contribute to the academic excellence of Montgomery County Community College. Campus Safety is a 24/7, 365 days a year operation. •This position requires a pre-employment drug screening test as a condition of employment. •This position also requires the selected candidate to submit their PA Child Abuse, PA State Police Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprinting clearances prior to the first day of employment. Hours - 2 nd
Shift:
Mon-Fri 2:30pm to 11pm Hourly rate includes 5% shift differential
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts periodic foot and vehicle patrols of assigned areas. Assists motorists, enforces all traffic and parking regulations and assist in traffic control when necessary. Responds to all medical emergencies and supports emergency medical personnel. Administers first aid and CPR as trained and coordinates with emergency dispatch and emergency personnel if needed. Responds to other radio calls as directed, takes appropriate action and submits an incident report if necessary. Prepares required incident reports. Notes unusual activities for follow-up action; conducts follow-up investigation of reported incidents. Identifies and reports potentially dangerous situations and hazardous conditions throughout the campus, and takes appropriate corrective measures. Resolves conflict between individuals or groups which may, without intervention, escalate to disorderly or criminal behavior. Participates in the identification and recovery of lost or stolen property and return it to the rightful owner. Assists police in criminal investigations on campus by conducting interviews, reviewing video footage and providing assistance as requested. Provide a liaison and working relationship with local, state and federal law enforcement and public safety agencies. Inspects buildings and grounds to insure that the College is in compliance with all local, state and federal laws and codes. Submits an incident report in order for corrective action to be initiated. Inspects and reports on emergency, fire and communication systems throughout the campus. Provides continuing support for special events and external details including overtime assignments . Provides security escorts to students, staff and faculty when requested on campus. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Education/Training/Work Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. One year directly applicable work experience. Willing to work a varied/flex schedule to accommodate departmental workloads and shifts including assignments to other shifts. Must possess and maintain valid motor vehicle operator's license. Bilingual or multilingual preferred. Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action. Must respond to emergency call in. Ability to successfully complete and maintain mandatory First Aid, CPR and AED certifications. Subject to routine background investigations. 2.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls a variety of emergency equipment and/or materials, including fire extinguishers, and evacuation chair. Physical stamina is required for prolonged standing, walking and patrols as related to job functions. Works outside in all weather conditions and under possible hazardous conditions. Assignments shall include weekends and Holidays.
