Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Enforce local and state laws and county ordinances relating to public safety and welfare. Patrols assigned areas; apprehends and arrests violators; performs a variety of public service safety and security functions with a primary role of school security at assigned school.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Provide law enforcement services for your assigned school Schedule deputies for off duty work for school functions Work with school administrators to address safety concerns of your school Conduct periodic security assessments of your school Perform supportive call duty in various environments under varying degrees of stress, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism All applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for School Resource Officer - Special Services Division. Additional requirements for the position are outlined below:
REQUIREMENTS
Must be a certified Class 1 Officer from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Must have School Resource Officer certification from the SC Carolina Criminal Justice, or the ability to achieve certification within a specified timeframe
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Ability to work independently, exercising discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential matters. Ability to perform duties with general direction, limited supervision, and a high degree of self-motivation and time management. Demonstrated professional etiquette and the ability to plan, organize, supervise, and/or instruct personnel. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and engage well with juveniles.
