Positions are located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health (OMH), Public Safety Division, 7901 Farrow Road, Columbia
SC 29203.
Responsibilities for the
Security Specialist III:
Assist inpatient and outpatient facilities by responding to calls for service within 15 minutes or less of request to complete contraband searches, respond to fire alarms or emergency calls, emergency codes, or other requests for assistance.
Assist inpatient facilities in monitoring patients safely and securely during outside appointments. Assist responding LEO when requests for transportation is needed, within 15 minutes or less of request.
Complete case reports on all incidents (including, but not limited to, patient abuse/neglect; theft; contraband searches; hospital standbys, etc.) within 24 hours.
Comply with all applicable CALEA Accreditation, regulatory, and contractual regulations.
Patrol assigned areas to include campus perimeters, parking lots, and surrounding areas to ensure ongoing safety and security of all areas.
Participates in daily roll call during shift change to receive shift deployment orders.
Transmits messages and alarms related to safety, security, prevention and protection via radio communication immediately.
Completes required education and training relevant to the position within the assigned time frame.
A high school diploma
Experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities
Must be at least 21 years of age
Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
Post hire, employee must have:
Maintain a high level of communication with districts and facility staff.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to work fluctuating hours.
Effective communication skills
Have considerable knowledge of state laws, rules, and regulations of the South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
Complete MANDT/and or MAPS training
