Student Security Officer

To work alongside the Student Security Coordinator and school level administrators to provide a safe and secure campus. This position is for a floating role that serves where assigned, based on need. Responsibilities Patrol the assigned campus both inside the buildings and the perimeter. Be highly visible on campus with a focus on before and after school and at lunch. Maintain external security of the buildings. Make recommendations to correct identified security issues on campus. Observe arrival and departure of students. Ensure that no unauthorized individuals gain access to the campus. Work with the staff to intervene in situations that can cause disruptions of the learning environment. Monitors video surveillance at the school. Becomes a part of the school threat assessment team. Be available when parents are on campus to prevent disruptions. Develops and fosters communication with the patrolling law enforcement agency that serves their school. Communicates regularly with the site administration as well as the direct supervisor. Is available to interact with parents in an educational setting. Completes other assigned duties.

Qualifications Knowledge/Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or GED required. Ability to qualify for appropriate licensure or TN POST certification. Weapons qualifications at or above established standards. Certified in First Aid, CPR and "Stop the Bleed".

Skills/Qualifications:

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Knowledge of and ability to use a portable radio. Use of basic computer skills.

Compensation:

Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. Grade F
