In this role, you will be on the front lines of safety, playing a crucial part in maintaining a secure, orderly, and enjoyable environment for all attendees, vendors, and staff. This role requires a dependable professional who can problem-solve with high integrity, interact courteously with the public, and maintain a calm, alert presence under pressure.
Key Responsibilities Gate & Bag Check Operations:
Conduct thorough and courteous security screenings at entry gates, ensuring prohibited items do not enter the fairgrounds.
Access Control & Monitoring:
Enforce strict badge verification and visitor sign-ins at restricted areas and designated checkpoints.
Patrol Duties:
Conduct regular foot patrols of assigned areas, monitoring both static posts and roving assignments to deter incidents and identify potential hazards.
De-escalation & Conflict Resolution:
Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to handle public inquiries, defuse tense situations calmly, and professionally maintain order.
Alcohol Monitoring:
Monitor designated checkpoints and consumption areas to ensure compliance with fair policies and Washington state legal regulations.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly and effectively to safety hazards or emergencies, acting lawfully and decisively under the direction of management.
Incident Reporting:
Alert leadership to signs of disorder or policy violations, and assist in documenting accurate, professional incident details.
Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in security, customer service, or public-facing roles is preferred, but a strong work ethic and reliability are paramount.
Guard Card:
Must possess a current and active Washington Unarmed Guard Card (Required).
Core Competencies:
Strong communication skills, ability to remain calm in high-stress situations, and an uncompromised standard of personal integrity.
Physical Ability:
Must be physically capable of standing, walking, and maintaining an alert presence for extended periods (8-12 hour shifts) in an outdoor environment.
Transportation:
Must have access to reliable personal transportation to and from the fairgrounds in Ridgefield, WA.
Availability:
Must have completely open availability for the full duration of the fair assignment (including weekdays, weekends, and late nights).
Schedule & Logistics Shift Length:
8 to 12 hours per shift.
Shift Availability:
Morning, Swing, and Grave shifts are available (flexibility is highly preferred as specific spots are limited).
