Classification :

Job Description:
Position Summary:
The Investigator under the direction of the APDM for responding to incidents/requests to analyze and investigate matters pertaining to shrink, policy violations, fraud, internal/external investigations and asset protection. The Investigator is responsible for providing detailed analysis and developing cases and identifying opportunities to reduce company shrink/liability issues. The investigator will be required as needed to train new Asset Protection Area Auditors and/or conduct auditors' responsibility to include AP Detective work. The investigator will be required to work in plain clothes, always carry full equipment for external, remain with open schedule availability with schedule subject to change.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
The investigator's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Responsible to investigate food portions in the service departments. The investigator is responsible to develop internal cases on possible dishonest acts by team members through building business relationships with store management to obtain pertinent information. Responsible to investigate unauthorized discounts that includes, mark downs, mislabeling/mispricing, under weighing products from any service department. Responsible to investigate shrink on service departments or low profits under the direction of APDM due to over ordering product, product thrown away, receiving issues, using product to make byproducts or any other possible theft. To this end, the investigator will be trained in such service department and maybe sent to other districts to work undercover and resolve the case. Responsible to utilize data available through CCTV systems, exception report system, or NCR reports to develop cases on possible dishonest acts pertaining to, transactions left suspended, canceled transactions, refunds, voided transactions and sweet hearting. Responsible to investigate vendor theft by working with Area Internal Auditor to develop possible dishonest cases. In this area, the Investigator is responsible to investigate any suspicious acts of dishonesty/theft. The investigator is responsible to investigate liquor, baby formula and tobacco theft. The investigator is responsible to investigate this as directed by APDM.
Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Prior loss prevention experience in theft apprehensions preferred but not required. Must possess the ability to make good sound decisions under stressful situations. Must be able to stand/walk the sales floor for the entire scheduled shift. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays appropriate to retail business needs. Must be able to submit and successfully pass a criminal background check. Must be at least 18. Basic understanding of Spanish and English language; reading, writing and speaking.
Physical Demands:
May also have to do some light lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. Requires prolonged standing. This position requires travel between locations in the district based on business needs, multi store location position must be available to travel. Typical physical demands or activities include up to 6 to 8 hours standing/walking. Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and at times using reasonable physical contact in order to execute an arrest within the company guidelines and law.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is non-exempt level position; schedule would be based on business necessity and coordinated through the reporting Asset Protection District Manager. Available to a flexible schedule based on business needs. Open to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
