Investigate incidents which may include major infractions of facility policy, departmental regulations, or state law, to include major crimes. Employ standard investigation techniques to determine involvement in those infractions and/or criminal activities. Protect and process complex crime scenes by securing and managing the scene, and identifying and collecting physical evidence. Conduct arrests as appropriate. Job Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: Use legally accepted methods to collect, evaluate and disseminate intelligence information acquired from staff, inmates, and concerned citizens. Evaluate security threat group activities and membership to determine risk to the facility operations and the safety and security of the facility. Maintain a contact network of Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC), local, state, and federal law enforcement, as well as related intelligence organizations for the purpose of acquiring ongoing intelligence information and educational knowledge. Conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects to obtain relevant case information in accordance with rules of evidence and applicable warnings of rights. Collect and preserve documents and related evidence relevant to investigative cases, maintaining an established chain of custody. Prepare appropriate administrative and investigative reports and forms required by the KDOC. Confer with prosecutors for preparation and presentation of evidence in courts of law and other legal proceedings; present evidence in order to obtain open subpoenas, search and arrest warrants. Participate in raids to seize evidence and/or apprehend suspects. Appear and testify in administrative and legal proceedings. Communicate and share intelligence and other information in a responsive and understandable manner with other Special Agents in both facility and field operations, Central Office staff, facility staff, contract staff and other law enforcement agencies. Corrections Officer Training Program Minimum Qualifications:
Must meet all minimum qualifications for COI (A); be at least 21 years of age at time of appointment; have two years of relevant experience in the field of corrections or in the detention of convicted offenders; and have successfully completed the Corrections Officer Training Program (COTP). At the discretion of the agency, relevant college coursework or completion or corrections officer training in another jurisdiction may be substituted for come or all of the required COTP.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of experience in the field of corrections or detention work. Previous investigation and law enforcement experience. Ability to effectively deal with individuals under restraint. Knowledge of procedures and practices of supervising inmates confined to an adult correctional institution. Higher education completion by Associate of Arts or Associate of Science Degree in criminal justice or related field.

Selection Process:
Applicants selected for an interview will be evaluated by an interview panel using performance/behavior-based interview questions. The interview panel will make recommendations to the Warden for final approval. A second interview may be conducted. Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and a TB test unless promoting, transferring, or demoting from another safety sensitive position within the same agency; and possess a valid Driver's License.

A valid Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate is a condition of employment for all employees of the State of Kansas.
