Job Summary:
The Investigator works in the Enforcement Division. This position investigates violations of The Real Estate License Act, Commission Rules, and Timeshare Acts, Chapter 1102, Texas Occupation Code (relating to inspectors). Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Job Duties:
Conduct investigations of complaints and file well written, grammatically correct, and comprehensive investigative reports, which may include documented evidenceInterview witnesses and parties to the complaint in person and by phoneMaintain and manage a caseload of pending investigationsTestify at administrative hearings and assist staff attorneys in preparation for hearingsAcquaint the general public, license holders, attorneys, and others with provisions of The RealEstate License Act, Commission¿s Rules, and agency policies and proceduresFile and research documents at city, county, and state officesPerform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Minimum three years work experience as an investigator or in a related field, which included analysis and report writing as an essential function of the position, or substantial and relevant real estate or state government experienceValid driver's license (Must maintain license and acceptable driving record throughout employment.). Experience can substitute for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum five years of experience as an investigator or in a related field, which includes analysis and report writing for a governmental entityKnowledge of general legal practices/proceduresReal estate experience and/or current Texas Real Estate license. (License must be placed on inactive status while employed with the agency.)

Environmental & Physical Conditions:
Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. Involves speaking to groups of people. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive phone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer. This position may be eligible for full remote work in the state of Texas. For all employees, there will be mandatory in office days for meetings, such as town halls.
