JOB TITLE
Health Intervention Specialist
RESPONSIBLE TO
Program Supervisor
JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the current supervision of the Program Supervisor, the Health Intervention The specialist is required to work closely with the Prevention staff. This position primarily recruits, engages, screens assesses and provides HIV risk-reduction counseling. The Health Intervention Specialist will also provide HIV testing, and will follow-up with individuals to provide HIV test results and appropriate prevention counseling. As needed, the Health Intervention Specialist will assist with facilitating

evidence-based intervention programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Health Intervention Specialist is responsible for fulfilling the following duties: 1. Provide Pre and Post-test prevention counseling on HIV, testing, risk reduction strategies. 2. Work with Prevention Team to identify and establish rapport with a high-risk target population for all

intervention programs. 3. Maintain strict confidentiality of client information at all times. 4. Network with outside agencies or existing available resources and services. 5. Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports in a timely manner. 6. Attend all scheduled supervisory, department, in-service, and agency staffing. 7. Participate in and support Health Intervention Specialist education activities. 8. Function within the organizational guidelines, policies, and procedures. 9. Prepare and maintain documentation on number tested, results given, number tested positive, and Health Intervention Specialist counseling reports. 10. Assist with the facilitation of evidence-based intervention programs. 11. Assist Supervisor with other duties as assigned. 12. Participate in continuing education required by the agency.
MINIMUM SKILLS
Demonstrated knowledge of HIV/STD's. Appropriate skills in verbal and written English communications. Ability to communicate, teach, and facilitate an individual and group basis. Appropriate skills in the use of common computer software utilized in the workplace.
MUST BE CULTURALLY SENSITIVE TO LGBTQ COMMUNITY SPECIFICALLY MALES WHO HAVE SEX WITH MALES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent. Knowledge in HIV/STD's and previous experience in similar areas. PBC Training and Red Cross instructor certified. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse constituencies, including but not limited to women, people of color, public interest groups, elected officials of both federal and local government agencies. Demonstrated ability to operate within current federal funding guidelines. The high degree of sensitivity and willingness to work directly with multi-lingual, multi-ethnic, multi-racial persons who are HIV positive.

$31,200.00 - $50,000.00 per year
