Job Description

Within the administrative structure of the sasi Article 16 Clinic and the requirements of New York State for the profession of Licensed Clinical Social Worker, the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) shall develop and deliver professional services to individuals who are Intellectually Disabled / Developmentally Disabled (ID/DD) who require and desire such services. This position plays a critical role in the Article 16 Clinic by supporting sasi's mission, vision, and core values. In a work environment such as sasi, it is necessary for the Licensed Clinical Social Worker to work cooperatively with all members of the individual's treatment team to help ensure favorable treatment outcomes and good communication. LCSW receives administrative supervision from the Clinic Treatment Coordinator and Director of Clinical Services, and clinical supervision from the contractual Licensed Clinical Psychologist. 1. Assesses each individual's level of function as related to their interpersonal relationships, feelings, self-esteem, stress, grief, socialization skills, support systems, and potential for participating in counseling. Develops a clinical impression and determines a mental health diagnosis in accordance with generally accepted standards of professional practice. 25% Develops a Treatment Plan with specific goals and objectives that include the nature, frequency, duration, and modalities of the recommended therapeutic interventions that are related to the Clinic Service Request and Assessment. 10% Initiates a therapeutic program using counseling techniques to facilitate individual change, self-exploration, self-understanding, and independence. Applies psychological and social theory to develop strategies for counseling services. Adjusts counseling approaches or styles to meet each individual's cognitive and personality traits. 30% Initiates or attends team meetings for individuals on their case load so as to discuss areas of concern or to develop, modify, or discontinue therapy. Works with family members and significant others to best meet the individual's interests and needs. 5% Documents all services provided following procedures determined by sasi administration and/or other certifying or oversight organizations. 10% Maintains a working knowledge of developments in the field of social work counseling by attending conferences and in-service programs, and by maintaining appropriate membership in professional organizations. Meets regularly with the supervising Licensed Clinical Psychologist to discuss clinical cases and treatment methodologies. 10% Provides in-service training to staff, as needed, on topics that relate specifically to a diagnosis or emotional/social situation involving an individual or group of individuals. 5% Familiarizes him or herself with the policies and procedures of OPWDD, Article 16 Clinic, and the Agency. 5% Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Candidates must have received a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited educational institution and be currently licensed in New York State as a Clinical Social Worker. It is desirable that candidates be willing to work toward receiving their "R" certification providing them with the Psychotherapy Privilege. Candidates must have specialized training or one (1) year of professional experience treating or working with individuals who have ID/DD. Basic computer skills preferred. 1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 2. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. 3. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 4. Ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees. 5. Reasoning ability to interpret agency policies. 6. Ability to resolve situations with unemotional discourse and firm decision-making. Must be able to maintain regular work schedule of 35 hours per week as well as perform essential duties as described on attached form. Travel between sites, to meetings, etc., during the workday may be required. Valid NYS Driver's License is required.
