Job Description
Position Summary Lead & Assistant Teacher The Teacher (Lead or Assistant) plays a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom environment that supports the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of young children. Teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate practices aligned with Lightbridge Academy's Mission, Vision, and Core Values while maintaining the highest standards of educational excellence, safety, and customer service. Lead Teachers serve as classroom leaders, responsible for curriculum planning, classroom management, and mentoring Assistant Teachers. Assistant Teachers support the Lead Teacher in daily classroom operations, instructional activities, and child supervision, while actively contributing to a positive learning environment and growing professionally within the field of early childhood education. All Teachers serve as ambassadors of Lightbridge Academy within the school and the broader community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties may vary slightly based on role (Lead vs. Assistant); however, all Teachers are expected to contribute to the success of the classroom and school. Classroom & Child Development Deliver high-quality classroom experiences by ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. Support children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development through age-appropriate activities. Maintain continuous supervision and active engagement with children during small group, whole group, and free-play activities. Implement positive reinforcement and redirection strategies in accordance with Lightbridge Academy's Discipline Policy. Supervise children during daily outdoor play and transitions. Ensure proper staff-to-child ratios as required by state licensing regulations.
Curriculum & Instruction Lead Teachers:
Plan, prepare, and implement lesson plans aligned with the Seedlings curriculum. Establish clear classroom goals and routines. Observe, assess, and document student progress through portfolios and assessments. Adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners.Assistant Teachers:
Support lesson implementation and classroom activities as directed by the Lead Teacher. Assist with observation, documentation, and preparation of classroom materials. Reinforce learning concepts through guided interaction and play. Family & Customer Engagement Build strong, professional partnerships with families to support each child's success. Communicate respectfully and effectively with parents regarding daily activities and child progress.Lead Teachers:
Conduct formal parent conferences twice per year. Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing parent questions and concerns promptly and professionally.Teamwork, Leadership & Professional Growth Lead Teachers:
Supervise, mentor, and coach Assistant Teachers. Plan and lead weekly mini-meetings and provide performance feedback. Support professional development and address performance concerns as needed.Assistant Teachers:
Work collaboratively with Lead Teachers and administrative staff. Accept feedback positively and demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow into advanced teaching roles. Participate in required trainings, meetings, and professional development opportunities. Assist with school events, classroom tours, and marketing activities as needed. Maintain compliance with Lightbridge Academy standards, licensing requirements, and operational audits. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)Education & Experience Lead Teacher:
CDA, Group Teacher certification, Associate's Degree in Education or related field required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of classroom experience in early childhood education.Assistant Teacher:
High school diploma or equivalent required; CDA or early childhood coursework preferred. Previous childcare or classroom experience preferred but not required. Must meet all state and company licensing and continuing education requirements. Core Competencies (All Teachers) Commitment to theProfession:
