JOB SUMMARY
Receives, processes, and delivers US, interoffice, courier mail, and freight to the Central Office and to all Administrative Satellite Offices. Trains and instructs new drivers on the delivery of incoming mail and parcels to Schools and Satellite Offices in specific mail routes throughout Anne Arundel County. Provides general oversight and guidance to the mail drivers. Additional Work Days/Hours Based on the assignment, the following additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed: Summer hours
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivers and picks up mail and parcels to and from Satellite Offices. Receives, sorts, and delivers all incoming mail and freight throughout the Central Office. Picks up incoming bulk mail from the Annapolis Post Office. Serves as a back-up mail driver during peak volume periods and/or whenever a driver is unavailable. Processes outgoing US mail on a commercial postage machine and ensures adequate postage. Ensures mail drivers properly sort, bag, and load all outgoing mail/packages in route order. Contacts mail drivers and redirects their routes when situations warrant it. Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Experience Two (2) years experience in mailroom operations receiving mail, sorting, and processing outgoing mail required; and One (1) year recent delivery driving experience operating a 22-foot transit-van or similar required; and Two (2) years experience providing in-person customer service required; and One (1) year experience and/or training in a supervisory capacity preferred; and One (1) year experience operating a commercial grade postage meter machine (Pitney Bowes, Hasler) preferred; Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Good organizational skills Ability to meet deadlines Ability to provide good customer service to office tenants and to schools Ability to plan, monitor, and coordinate work schedules of subordinates. Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse departments and offices. Ability to employ business technology tools (e.g. E-mail, AACPS Intranet, electronic benefits enrollment tool, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.). Ability to drive at least 100 miles per day Licenses and Certifications Employee must retain active licenses, certifications, and enrollment as a condition of employment. Upon hire, Driver's License (DL) Class C Non-Commercial issued by Maryland or State of Legal Residence (MVA/DMV) required. Proof of a good driving record required.
