Job Description

As a Teacher, you will: Position Summary The Expert Teacher serves as the primary educator and role model in the classroom, ensuring the highest standards of early childhood education, safety, and care. They are responsible for implementing curriculum, modeling appropriate social-emotional behavior, and maintaining a nurturing learning environment in alignment with the Lightbridge Academy Mission, Vision, and Core Values. Expert Teachers also develop and mentor Assistant Teachers, build strong relationships with families, and positively represent the center in the broader community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Curriculum Development
  • Plan, implement, and differentiate lesson plans using the Seedlings® curriculum and curriculum enhancements, ensuring each learning domain is addressed with appropriate activities. Maintain up-to-date classroom boards (updated every 30 days) and actively engage with children in whole and small group instruction both indoors and in the outdoor learning environment. Classroom Management
  • Establish and maintain a calm, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom that fosters independence, emotional regulation, and a safe learning environment. Positively model behavior while speaking to children at their level and redirect behavior in accordance with the Lightbridge Academy Discipline Policy. Child Assessment
  • Observe and assess students to develop and maintain individual profiles, portfolios, and prepare for biannual parent-teacher conferences. Utilize the Lightbridge Journey App to consistently upload sleep checks, name-to-face logs, photos (minimum of three per week), messages, and other documentation in a professional and timely manner. Supervision and Mentorship
  • Actively supervise and coach Assistant Teachers by conducting weekly meetings, providing feedback, assigning responsibilities, and promoting a positive, collaborative team culture within the classroom and across the center. Family Engagement
  • Build meaningful, proactive relationships with families through consistent, purposeful communication in the classroom and throughout the school. Support families in key developmental milestones (e.g., toilet training) and provide exceptional customer service by addressing concerns and sharing progress updates. Compliance and Safety
  • Supervise children by sight and sound at all times, including during transitions and outdoor activities (in accordance with the weather chart).
Ensure compliance with staff/child ratios, perform timely diapering/toileting based on schedules, complete accident/incident reports and behavior tracking, and follow licensing regulations, health/sanitation standards, and the center's confidentiality and social media policies. Basic Care Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care for children of all ages including hygiene assistance, feeding based on class or individual schedules, and comforting infants or toddlers as needed. Support developmental independence through routines and play-based learning. Operations and Cleanliness
  • Complete daily classroom cleaning checklist and maintain an organized and sanitized environment. Consistently open and close the classroom/pod properly and ensure all required documentation and safety checks are completed. Professional Development
  • Seek out and attend required and optional trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities both on
  • and off-site. Support school events, marketing tours, and center initiatives, and maintain professional standards in alignment with the Association of Early Learning Leaders and company audit expectations. Collaboration and Leadership
  • Foster positive relationships with coworkers and contribute to a school-wide team effort to maintain coverage and ratio compliance. Demonstrate understanding of and alignment with center policies and the "why" behind them, and lead by example in upholding Lightbridge Academy values. Additional Duties
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the administrative team.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Child Development Associate (CDA), Group Teacher Certification, or Associate's Degree in education or related field; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of child care experience; classroom experience strongly preferred. Maintain continuing education requirements per company and state guidelines. Commitment to the Profession

Physical Demands and Work Environment This position requires the ability to perform various physical activities and maintain a high level of engagement with children in a classroom setting. Standing and Walking
  • The ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Lifting
  • The ability to lift and carry children (up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 60 pounds), assist with mobility needs as well as the ability to handle light-to-moderate physical tasks such as moving classroom furniture and collecting educational materials.   • Regularly bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling to interact with children at their level or assist with classroom activities. Climbing
  • The ability to safely assist children in climbing outdoor playground structures or engage in outdoor activities. Vision and Hearing
  • The ability to observe classroom activities, read instructional materials, and communicate effectively with children and parents. Fine Motor Skills
  • The use of hands and fingers to handle paperwork, educational materials, type on a keyboard, and assist children with classroom projects, eating and drinking, and personal care within our lavatory facilities. Environment
  • Work is primarily conducted in a moderately noisy classroom, with occasional outdoor activities like recess, depending on the weather; the role requires the ability to be outdoors in various temperatures and extended sunlight.
