Work Arrangement:
Operational What You'll Do:
Responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the Mechanical Shop by ensuring the mechanical repair and maintenance of vehicles are compliant and available for use.
Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose vehicle malfunctions for the purpose of determining needed vehicle repairs and replacements. Inspect vehicle components, parts and accessories for the purpose of ensuring vehicles can operate in a safe manner. Oversee mechanics and other assigned personnel to ensure assignments are compliant and completed within established guidelines. Prepare written materials (e.g. repair and maintenance logs, parts, lists, warranty claims, completed Driver Vehicle Inspections Reports, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written references and meeting mandated requirements. Attend unit in-service and daily safety meetings for the purpose of conveying and gathering information required to perform job functions. Ensure the established safety procedures and techniques are followed to perform the job duties and identify any unsafe conditions in the work area. Adjust internal resources for changing priorities. Establish visibility and awareness of maintenance requirements within the next three months.
Qualifications Education & Credentials:
High school diploma or equivalent, plus job related course work after high school. Vocational or Technical school certification preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in HAZMAT tanker and fleet maintenance in addition to two (2) years of supervisory experience managing staff in equipment repairs .
Technical Skills:
Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Advanced mechanical skills with an understanding of diagnostic equipment to evaluate mechanical problems, working knowledge of fleet maintenance software and meet the
DOT 396.19
Inspector qualifications.
Other:
Valid Alaska CDL (Class A) with a Hazardous Materials endorsement preferred.
Competencies:
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners. Prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously while meeting assigned deadlines. Function effectively with, or as part of a team. Adapt to changing work demands. Work with minimal supervision and make independent technical decisions in order to make timely and effective repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of and the ability to identify safety hazards and necessary safety precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Working Conditions:
Works both inside an office environment and also outside in conditions of both high and low temperatures. May be exposed to odors, dust, dirt, mechanical hazards, high noise levels and potentially dangerous equipment. Must be able to crouch and stoop to get into areas with restricted headroom and be able to climb ladders. May require extended use of computer keyboard and viewing of computer monitor and ability to sit for long periods of time. What We Offer?
