Initiates and conducts therapeutic procedures, maintains patient records, and selects, assembles, checks, and operates respiratory equipment. Responds to various emergency codes, performing duties such as maintaining the airway, intubation, chest compressions, and ventilator setup. Determines requirements for treatment, including type, method, duration of therapy, precautions, and medication dosages compatible with providers' orders. Performs diagnostic testing per facility needs. Monitors patients' physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes, consulting with providers if adverse reactions occur. Educates patients and their families about their conditions and teaches disease management techniques, such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment. Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to students and other healthcare workers, acting as a preceptor for students and new hires during orientation. Attends department meetings and in-services, actively participating in the department's quality improvement process. Delegates shift assignments to other therapists, ensuring communication devices are working and distributed, and tracks lunch schedules. Reviews end-of-shift reports to ensure there are no open or incorrect orders, notifying the responsible therapist as necessary. Evaluates, treats, and cares for patients with breathing disorders, assuming primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Required Additional languages preferred. Preferred Possess a broad Respiratory knowledge, leadership ability, accepts responsibility, exercises authority, and functions independently Required Demonstrated supervisory skills Required Good communication skills for interdepartmental relationships Required Knowledge of principals of leadership/coaching, organization, time management, and multi-tasking Required Excellent communication skills Required Enhanced critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate changes in patient condition and respond rapidly and appropriately Required Expertise in patient assessment, evaluation, and revision of treatment plans by using protocols Required Knowledge and skills in advanced respiratory therapy Required Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards and complianceRequired Education:

inRespiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science Work Experience:
3+ years experience in a hospital as an RRT Required 1+ years of critical care experienceRequired Additional Information:
