Job Description

Temple Israel Early Childhood Center is currently accepting candidates for a Lead Teacher position at our school. Candidates must have a CDA, Early Childhood degree or related background. Candidates are invited to join a supportive and professional team to work with a classroom of young children in a 5 day program. All teaching positions are morning only. However, there are options to pick up additional afternoon hours if interested. Candidates must be professional and have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with families and create intentional and thoughtful lesson plans. Teaching teams work closely together and flexibility and collaboration are a must in addition to warmth, caring and a passion for helping children learn through play! Candidates with prior classroom experience are preferred. Candidates for the Lead Teacher position must : Support positive relationships with families and promote understanding of children's growth and development. Support planning, implementation and supervision of developmentally appropriate early childhood education experiences to meet CT Early Learning Standards. Care for and maintain the organization, appearance, and learning environment of the classroom and its learning centers. Maintain progress records of each child's growth and development, compile information and prepare assessment reports for two annual parent-teacher conferences. Establish and maintain positive, professional work relationships with other members of the ECC professional community and synagogue staff. Maintain a positive, professional attitude and embrace school polices and philosophies. Attend staff meetings and in-house development opportunities. Maintain confidentiality of privileged information obtained in the course of work. Provide and maintain valid licensing documentation required for staff employment. Participate in recommended training programs, conferences, courses, and other aspects of professional growth. Have an interest in learning about, or alternatively, have a working knowledge of Jewish holidays, customs and practices Supervise upkeep of educational equipment and materials in assigned play areas. Assist and attend events sponsored by the school. Hours will vary depending on classroom age group with whom you work. Opportunities are available for additional afternoon hours as well.
