Job Description:
Longwood University seeks candidates for a full-time lectureship in Spanish (F0295) with additional teaching responsibilities in our International Student Bridge program, to begin August 10, 2026. Teaching responsibility is fifteen credits per semester and will include courses in beginning and intermediate Spanish, as well as classes to support the Bridge program. Class size is 18 students for most sections. The Department of English and Modern Languages has a mission to serve our students by helping them improve as writers, speakers, and citizens. We do so through a diverse array of offerings that include Spanish, French, German, Latin, and American Sign Language. The program in modern languages endorses active, communicative instruction that leads students to proficiency at the intermediate level. This position is located in Farmville, Virginia, and is required to work in person on Longwood University's campus.
Requirements:
Candidates must have an advanced degree (MA, ABD, PhD) in Spanish, TESOL, or a related field, including 18 graduate hours in Spanish, graduate coursework in TESL or experience teaching ESL, and evidence of effective college-level instruction. Applicants should demonstrate collaboration skills, the ability to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, experience with communicative language teaching, and a commitment to undergraduate teaching. We are a collegial university and department committed to teaching and strong student-faculty interaction. A demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff, and constituents in support of the university mission is required. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track, instructional faculty position. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required.
