Supervises, schedules, hires and trains page staff; helps maintain the library collection; participates in the performance of page duties- checks in, sorts, routes and shelves library materials and assists patrons with library services.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
25%SUPERVISION OF DAILY OPERATIONS
- Supervises daily operations by getting information and making sense of it, communicating information to staff, organizing resources, and making decisions in order to ensure the proper functioning of the operational unit. Makes recommendations and takes the initiative regarding practices and procedures for pages. (Essential) 20%
COLLECTION MAINTENANCE
- Weeds collections based on the Conditional Weeding Reference Guide and conditional weeding matrix; redistributes materials based on an excel spreadsheet and communication between branches to help with overflow of the floating collection; manages shifting; prepares statistical reports to help with locating claimed returns, stuck in transit, and on search items; follows procedures for missing and damaged materials; prepares and routes items needing repairs; helps with the promotion of the collection by merchandising and assisting staff to maintain and create in-shelf displays and maintains a fresh, appealing and relevant collection.
STAFF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
- Sets performance objectives for staff; observes and documents performance; recognizes, rewards and disciplines performance; schedules page staff; plans and facilitates page meetings; trains staff; and recommends adjustments to pay in order to manage the pay and performance of staff. (Essential) 15%
PATRON ASSISTANCE AND CIRCULATION
- Serves as the first point of contact for patrons in assistance with using library materials and information, guiding them in searching the catalog and stacks, accessing databases, and navigating the Internet; assists patrons with self-checkout and checking in materials; issues and updates library cards; follows procedures and collects money for fines and over-dues; processes holds; explains policies and procedures pertaining to the use and care of library materials; determines status of damaged and missing materials and administers charges as appropriate; and provides high-level customer relations by addressing and resolving customer account issues and complaints, and sourcing assistance from Patron Services Supervisor or Library Manager as necessary.
MATERIALS HANDLING
- Participates in the performance of page duties: checks in materials and sorts and routes materials to their appropriate location; prepares materials for courier pick-up and empties bins of materials from courier deliveries, placing items on carts in order to prepare materials for check-in; shelves materials by placing materials on the appropriate shelf according to Dewey decimal number, author or title; may shelf read materials and shift and straighten materials; processes holds; follows procedures for missing and damaged materials; and prepares and routes items needing repairs.
STAFF SELECTION
- Selects staff by interviewing candidates for vacant positions, assessing qualifications, and recommending for hire the candidate that most closely meets the desired qualifications at a starting wage reflective of the hiring strategy and overall staffing plan for the library. (Essential) 5%
OTHER DUTIES
- Performing other duties as assigned; assists with deposits and counting money in the register; acts as the Person in Charge (PIC) in the absence of the Patron Services Supervisor or Library Manager; participates in meetings, committees, and assists Library Manager in order to ensure the smooth operation of the branch.

Bachelor's Degree Experience:
