Job Description

This position is 7 hrs/day for 181 days/year. To be considered for any Paraeducator position, please provide a copy of your high school diploma or GED equivalent (unofficial copy). To be eligible for a regular Paraeducator position, please provide ONE of the following: An official transcript from an accredited college or university conferring your AA Degree (or higher) An official transcript identifying successful completion of 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits from an accredited college or university A copy of your ParaPro Test (Praxis) with a passing score of 455 or higher or your Pearson Assessment with a score of 220 or higher or your Master Teacher test must exceed 65%.

•PARAEDUCATOR•ELEMENTARY
LIBRARY TECHNICIAN JOB SUMMARY
The position of Paraeducator•Elementary Library Technician is responsible for library operations and working with students to provide a positive learning experience.
Reports to and evaluated by:
Building Supervisor or Designee
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform library operations (i.e. telephone, inventory, ordering with a certificated staff member, budget tracking, copying, and student supervision). Assist students and staff with research, computer operations or general inquires. Check books and materials in/out to students and staff. Generate reports for staff (i.e. overdue materials, year-end reports & materials lists). Collect library fines from students and staff. Maintain library records and documents (i.e. student records, library inventory, acceptable use/responsibility forms, equipment inventory). Repair books and materials. Prepare instructional materials, books, and taped programs for students and staff. Maintain and prepare the learning resource center to meet users needs. Train students, staff, and volunteers in the use of the library and equipment (i.e. audio/visual, computers/internet access). Supervise students as required. Attend meetings and training as required to improve knowledge and maintain skills. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; 72 college credits or an AA Degree or ParaPro Test (Praxis) with a passing score of 455 or higher, Pearson Assessment with a score of 220 or higher, or Master Teacher test with a score over 65% Some child development course work or training preferred.
Experience:
Prior experience in a library environment preferred. Possess skills to use and operate standard office equipment including computer and related software. Minimum keyboarding speed 40 wpm. Knowledge of library records systems. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, demonstrating the proper use of grammar, punctuation and spelling. Possess effective human relations skills. Ability to work with minimum supervision; organize work; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and the community.
