As a licensed professional, you will provide expert assistance in selecting eyewear, fitting and adjusting glasses, and ensuring optimal visual comfort for diverse patient populations. Your expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional customer service while supporting clinical operations within an ophthalmology or optometry setting. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that meet their optical needs, preferences, and lifestyle requirements. Measure and verify prescription accuracy using optical equipment, ensuring precise fitting of eyewear. Maintain detailed medical records and documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) systems, adhering to HIPAA regulations. Support laboratory activities by processing lens orders, verifying measurements, and ensuring quality control of finished eyewear. Educate patients on proper eyewear care and general eye health practices. Collaborate with optometrists to ensure seamless clinical workflows and accurate medical coding for billing purposes. Requirements Valid state licensure as an Optician with comprehensive knowledge of optical dispensing standards and practices. Experience working with ophthalmology or optometry clinics is highly preferred. Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and laboratory techniques. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other healthcare software platforms. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security. Ability to perform basic clinical tasks including measurement and aseptic technique for contact lens handling. Retail sales experience is advantageous for providing excellent customer service and managing retail operations efficiently.
