Duties & Responsibilities:

• Checking eligibility and benefits verification for procedures.
• Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
• Following up on unpaid claims within the standard billing cycle timeframe.
• Researching and appealing denied claims.
• Checking insurance payment for accuracy and compliance with its policy.
• Calling insurance companies regarding any discrepancy in payments when necessary
• Answering all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
• Updating spreadsheets and running collection reports.
• Work with payors on reviewing and resolving remittance errors and claim rejections.
• Address billing related calls from patients and physicians within a timely manner
• Claim and appeal submissions via calls and portal lookups
• Research changes and updates to insurance plan-specific claim and appeal processes and requirements
• Establish ongoing contacts within the insurance plans
• Additional duties to be assigned, as needed

Preferred Experience:

1-2 years Medical Billing Experience, Required 1-2 years in the Healthcare Industry, Required Experience with Billing Guidelines related to proprietary laboratory services using unlisted, miscellaneous CPT codes
