Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Licensed Optician, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and optical services. In this vital role, you will combine technical proficiency with exceptional customer service to help patients select and fit eyewear that meets their vision needs and personal style. Your knowledge of optometry, medical terminology, and optical systems will ensure accurate prescriptions, proper lens fitting, and seamless management of medical records. We are committed to fostering a lively, supportive environment that values your skills and dedication to improving vision health for diverse patient populations. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that suit their prescriptions, lifestyle, and aesthetic preferences while providing expert guidance on optical options. Interpret and fill eyeglass prescriptions accurately while taking precise measurements (PD, segment height, etc) Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eyefinity or other clinic-specific software to accurately document patient information, medical history, and treatment plans. Manage laboratory processes for lens fabrication, ensuring proper aseptic techniques and adherence to quality standards. Educate patients on proper lens types, lens coatings, lens care, eye health maintenance, and the importance of regular check-ups, especially for pediatric and senior care populations. Handle retail sales transactions confidently, applying retail math skills to manage inventory, pricing, and billing while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical records privacy. Support clinic operations by maintaining accurate medical coding for billing purposes and assisting with medical billing processes when necessary. Qualifications Valid licensure as an Optician with state licensing requirements fulfilled; prior clinic or optical experience preferred. Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy of the eye, and medical terminology related to vision care. Experience working with EMR systems such as Eyefinity or similar platforms; familiarity with laboratory processes is a plus. Demonstrated retail sales skills with the ability to manage retail math effectively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times. Ability to perform vital signs assessments and understand physiology relevant to eye health. Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse patient groups including pediatrics and senior care populations. Capable of working collaboratively within a healthcare team while managing multiple responsibilities efficiently.
