Job Description

LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITY
The Licensed Practical Nurse provides skilled nursing care by implementing specific elements of the nursing process within the legal scope of his/her practice under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or physician. The LPN will perform all duties as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, state regulations established by the Board of Nursing, the policies and objectives of NurSTAT, and the utilizing facility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of practical/vocational nursing Competent in Pharmacology Current, unencumbered license to practice as a licensed practical nurse within the State employed in. At least 1 year of clinical experience as a licensed practical nurse related to the specific area of assignment IV Therapy certification and experience, when appropriate CPR certification
SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures, regulations and guidelines pertaining to assigned clinical area Ability to organize, interpret and implement established programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the agency and facility that are necessary for providing quality care Ability to communicate information concerning a patient's condition clearly Demonstrates professional behavior, attitude and flexibility Ability to function independently with minimal supervision Possess leadership and supervisory ability Willingness to work with professional and non-professional staff Skilled in interpersonal relationships Read, write and communicate in English in an understandable manner Ability to move intermittently throughout the work day, inclusive of sitting, standing and bending, pushing, pulling or moving objects and patients Ability to relate to and work with the various personality styles, ill, disabled and elderly
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs therapeutic measures, provides direct patient care, administers medications and treatments prescribed by the patient's physician and within the scope of practice Adheres to charting policies and format of the utilizing facility Assesses, evaluates and identifies patient needs Plans and delivers nursing care utilizing the nursing process and accepts responsibility and accountability for the care administered to assigned patients Assists in meeting the patient's physical, emotional and spiritual needs Upholds patients rights Observes utilizing facilities' policies regarding handling of IV's; regulates and monitors IV's if permitted by facility and state Supervises ancillary personnel and delegates responsibility when required and appropriate Assumes responsibility for the performance of team members, professional and non- professional, when acting as team leader Maintains a safe and therapeutic nursing service routine, and utilizes facility policies Adheres to established policies and procedures relative to fire, safety, emergencies and delivery of patient care Develops and implements patient care plans, discharge plans in collaboration with patients, families, nursing staff, physicians and other health team members Assumes responsibility for professional growth and development through attendance and participation in continuing education seminars, workshops, inservice programs, orientation and personnel evaluations Communicates essential data relative to patient care, responses to care, continuity of care, etc., to members of the health care team utilizing established channels of communication Maintains awareness of nursing policies and procedures Prepares patient care plans, related reports and documentation for the clinical record inclusive of nursing interventions and outcomes; patient progress, condition, care provided and evaluation of care given; follows the utilizing facilities' policies and format on charting Accepts and fulfills the obligations of a schedule with NurSTAT which has been requested and confirmed Exercises good judgment when accepting or rejecting an assignment Accepts CHARGE nurse responsibilities when delegated by the nurse in charge or supervisor after appropriate orientation
Pay:
$40.00 - $42.00 per hour
