Job Description

Job Responsibilities:
Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, collecting specimens, and assisting with procedures, always within the LPN scope of practice and under supervision when required Administer medications safely and accurately, utilizing knowledge of pharmacology and following UHS policies and current clinical standards Educate patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and management strategies, as directed by a provider or registered nurse Support and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including Joint Commission, NYS Department of Health, and infection control protocols Perform CLIAwaived laboratory testing, including quality control procedures, documentation, and participation in triannual AAFP proficiency testing Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system to support patient safety and care coordination Participate in departmentspecific credentialing and lab validations as required by practice standards and regulations Collaborate with providers, RNs, and the broader care team to coordinate patient care and promote positive health outcomes Assist with front office functions such as scheduling, patient intake, and communication of clinical instructions when appropriate Actively engage in Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives by reviewing data, offering feedback, and implementing changes to enhance care quality Maintain clinical competency by participating in ongoing training, inservices, and educational opportunities Uphold a culture of patientcentered care by contributing to a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all individuals
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Required:
Graduated an accredited school of Practical Nursing Current New York State Practical Nurse License, a Limited Permit, or ability to practice within the 90 day grace period allowed by New York State guidelines
Preferred:
Basic Skills Certifications (CPR) Work Environment Work is performed in an office environment and patient care areas which require working in proximity to other employees and patients. Rooms are air conditioned and heated. Frequent walking, standing, bending, pushing, and lifting. Fast paced environment with frequent interruptions. Exposure to equipment cleaning solutions and disinfectants. PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies. Age of Patients Served All Age Groups HIPAA RolesBased Access to Patient Information Clinical Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) Level 3 Staff Supervised Not Applicable
