POSITION SUMMARY
The Physician at KC CARE provides high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals and families in underserved communities, with a special focus on prenatal and pediatric services. This role includes diagnosing and treating a broad range of health conditions, supporting healthy pregnancies, and promoting optimal growth and development in children. The Physician emphasizes preventive care, health education, and early intervention, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive, accessible, and affordable healthcare across all life stages.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care Conduct thorough medical examinations, obtain patient histories, and order and interpret diagnostic tests. Diagnose and treat a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies. Provide preventive care, including routine check-ups, immunizations, and screenings. Perform minor surgical procedures and other clinical interventions as needed. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care in the electronic health record (EHR) system. Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, and preventive care practices. Counsel patients on lifestyle changes, such as diet, exercise, and smoking cessation, to improve health outcomes. Address patient concerns and answer questions to ensure understanding and compliance with treatment plans. Collaborate with other healthcare providers, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and specialists, to provide coordinated care. Participate in case discussions, team meetings, and care planning sessions. Refer patients to appropriate specialists and follow up on specialist recommendations. Supervises health care performed by Nurse Practitioners, Physician's Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, Residents, Medical Students and Volunteer Providers, to include being available by telephone to provide back-up and information during normal and after-hours office hours, when scheduled. Collaborates with members of the multidisciplinary team, identifies barriers to patient care and delivery of services and assists in formulating plan of care: making referrals or ordering referrals to internal and external departments based on patient needs Adhere to evidence-based practices and clinical guidelines to ensure high standards of care. Administrative Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and best practices. Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, identifying opportunities for improvement. Participate, and may act as Principal or Sub-Investigator, in clinical and other research. Collaborate with leadership to improve clinic efficiency and to enhance access and provide cost-effective health services. Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and FQHC requirements. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Participate in peer reviews, audits, inspections, and accreditation activities as required. Participate in community outreach programs to promote the organization's services and mission. Assists other staff in complying with any special conditions of grant awards, rules, regulations or laws. Provide health education to the community to improve public health awareness and outcomes. Engage with community organizations and stakeholders to address local health needs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school. Spanish bilingual Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Missouri. Board certified or Board eligible in Family Practice or Internal Medical. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Active Missouri DEA and BNDD licensure
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency with electronic health record systems.
