Licensed Practical Nurse-On Call Monday-Thursday 5pm-8am 3.3 3.3 out of 5 stars Topeka, KS Part-time Oakley Place Topeka Ks 3 reviews Part-time Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team on an on-call basis. The ideal candidate will possess a broad range of clinical skills, including experience with various patient populations and healthcare settings. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care, performing assessments, administering treatments, and supporting patient needs across multiple care environments. The LPN-On Call will be a vital part of ensuring seamless patient care delivery in our facility, responding promptly to staffing needs and urgent situations. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations. Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform venipuncture with adherence to sterile techniques and safety protocols. Manage airway care, ventilator support, catheterization, tube feeding, and other specialized procedures as required. Document all patient interactions accurately using EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Assist with diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing and medical imaging procedures. Provide specialized care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, neonatal patients, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer's disease, and those requiring hospice or palliative care. Support discharge planning, case management activities, and coordinate follow-up care for post-acute or outpatient settings. Respond to urgent care needs such as acute pain management, infection control issues, or emergency interventions including airway management and basic life support. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in hospital medicine, ICU/CCU/PICU units, trauma centers (Level I & II), and other specialized units like ophthalmology or dermatology when needed. Ensure compliance with all healthcare standards including NCQA standards and infection control protocols. Experience Proven clinical experience in critical care environments such as ICU or trauma centers (Level I & II Trauma Center experience preferred). Extensive background working with diverse patient populations including long-term care facilities, assisted living communities, nursing homes, hospice settings, or home & community care. Familiarity with
ICD-9/10
coding systems and CPT coding for documentation purposes. Experience using EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth for medical documentation and patient records management. Skills in performing complex procedures like spinal taps, dermal fillers administration (nice-to-have), dialysis support, or gastrostomy tube management are advantageous. Knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support accurate patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation. Ability to work independently in an on-call capacity while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.
