Yesterday Job Description Special Education Life Skills Teacher and Case Manager The Claremont School District is located in the beautiful and picturesque Upper Valley Area of New Hampshire. The Claremont School District is approximately 35 minutes from Mount Sunapee Ski Resort and 30 minutes from all of the concerts and athletic events at Dartmouth College in Hanover. The Connecticut River flows nearby, making kayaking and canoeing very convenient after work and on the weekends. Hiking trails are plentiful. Life Skills Special Education Teacher Reports to: Building Principal
Terms of Employment:
Full-Time/Up to 185 days
FLSA Classification:
Exempt Qualifications Certification/License:
State Certification as a Special Education Teacher.
Education:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignments, NH Educator Certification, or be eligible for a site-based learning plan demonstrated with a statement of eligibility.
Experience:
Successful prior special education teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
Job Goals:
The successful candidate will be able to maximize the learning experience for students with special needs in academics, interpersonal skills, and activities of daily living by implementing district-approved curriculum and the student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Responsibilities include documenting teaching and student progress, tracking outcomes, addressing students' specific needs, and providing a safe and optimal learning environment. The role also requires the ability to case manage students, which involves communication with parents and guardians, writing IEPs, holding meetings, and meeting compliance deadlines.
