Apple Ridge Farm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, youth-serving organization that transforms the lives of underserved children and families through engagement in unparalleled educational, cultural, and outdoor experiences! We seek a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor for seven weeks for our exciting academic summer camp in Copper Hill, VA. Transportation from Roanoke can be coordinatedAdditionally, our Lifeguards are expected to staff pool rental events on an as-needed basis, as rentals are booked and would require transportation. This position reports directly to the Program Director. The pay rate is $15 per hour, and payroll occurs Thursdays, bi-weekly.

Duties:

Teach swimming lessons for all sessions. Prepare a summary of activities and camper highlights at the end of camp. Ensure all persons in the pool area are safe and accounted for. Be a role model at all times! General duties include maintaining the pool environment, including chemicals and vacuuming, and the cleanliness of the pool and locker room areas.

Requirements:

• High School Student (Minimum age of 16)
• Lifeguard with active certification or ability to become certified (Apple Ridge will sponsor) Must attend and pass lifeguard certification classes before camp.
• Advanced swimmer - able to perform rescues as needed for both youth and adults
• Ability to monitor large groups of inner-city children ages 6-14 in a pool setting
• Ability to work outside all day in a pool environment
• Must be available to work June 8th - July 23rd, 2026, M-F, 30 hours per week.
• Must additionally work pool rental events as needed throughout the season until pool closure on Labor Day.
