Provide assistance to Chef in directing day to day activities as our new culinary program grows. •Weekends Only•
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs multiple-tasks smoothly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment Ability to follow recipes, instructions and guidelines Experienced in safe operation of commercial food service equipment Proficiently being able to utilize a wide range of kitchen tools and utensils, include chopping knives and vegetable grinders Washes, chops, grates and slices vegetables to go in various dishes. Cuts and slices meats to the appropriate portion sizes. Complies with special food handling requirements for certain dishes such as vegan or gluten-free. Be responsible for ensuring that leftover food is stored properly Perform kitchen maintenance tasks such as emptying the trash and washing dishes, and testing the temperature of food at specified intervals Makes lists of items that need to be ordered and assists in keeping the kitchen organized Set-up and clean equipment for daily food preparation Receives deliveries and stores food in refrigerators and freezers. Prioritized prepping duties to meet deadlines in a fast-paced kitchen Maintain safe, sanitary prep stations and orderly work area Back up to Chef and Sous Chef as needed.
Job Requirements:
Previous restaurant experience a plus. Attentive to quality and detail Must have a clear understanding of safe food handling and good hygiene Excellent communication skills Able to juggle multiple kitchen duties at one time Able to focus on preparation of banquet foods for up to 200 people Knowledge of health/safety codes Has attention to detail and the ability to follow direction and abide by standard operating procedures. Must be able to speak English Consistently striving to be better. Current Food Handlers Card Ability to stand for long periods of time throughout entire shift.
