Job Description

Description About us: Foxdale Village, a life plan community guided by Quaker values, is a non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) located in State College, PA. Foxdale was founded in 1985 by members of the State College Friends Meeting and is founded on the values of treating all with dignity and respect. Foxdale is regarded as a premier healthcare facility both locally and nationally and has been voted "Best Retirement Community in State College, PA" for over a decade. Foxdale Village includes 57 apartments and 148 cottages and offers a range of health services with 46 beds in skilled nursing for short and long-term care, two memory care neighborhoods, and 55 beds in personal care, all with private accommodations. We currently have an opportunity for a new Line Cook to join our team. We are hiring for a Part-Time position and expected work 20 hours per week, and every other weekend/holiday.
Line Cook Job Summary:
Prepares food and serves customers at multiple stations in accordance with current applicable federal, state and organizational standards, guidelines and regulations, with our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by management to ensure that quality food service is always provided. Prepare multiple orders simultaneously. Works as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Essential Job Duties Include:
Takes orders from customers and prepares items requiring short preparation. May complete orders from service line, steam tables and serves customers at multiple stations. Serves customers in an efficient and friendly manner following established steps of service, meeting outlined standards and ensuring that food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all food items prepared. Utilizes approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control. Carries pans, kettles, and trays of food to and from workstations, stove, and refrigerator in compliance with established safety standards. Performs assigned set-up duties. Properly stores foods in designated areas following standard wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures. Cleans, sanitizes and maintains all assigned work areas, equipment and utensils to ensure sanitation standards are met. Resolves customer concerns. Reports relevant information and concerns to supervisor. Perform job safely while maintaining a clean and safe work environment and always following correct procedures. Perform other functions and duties as assigned.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Experience:
Six to twelve months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Other Qualifications:
ServeSafe certification preferred; must be secured within 1 year of hire into position. Foxdale is an EOE Employer. This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position.
