Job Description

  • Salaried position, starting at $800/week but can increase depending upon experience/performance
  • Restaurant staff receives a meal on working days. Must relocate to Skagway, AK for the season (self-relocation). Contract ending September 30th. Company-provided housing $150/month, automatically deducted from paycheck. Pets are not allowed in company housing.
  • Overview The Line Cook / Kitchen Support Staff position is a hands-on, seasonal role that combines line cook duties with overall kitchen and service support.
This role supports a set-menu, buffet-style restaurant rather than a made-to-order kitchen, with a focus on quality, consistency, efficiency, and volume service. The position works closely with the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Restaurant Manager to ensure food is prepared, presented, and maintained to a high standard while supporting a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment. General Responsibilities This position supports daily kitchen operations for a buffet-style dining service, including food preparation, buffet setup, replenishment, sanitation, and overall kitchen organization. In addition to dining room service, the role includes non-dining room tasks during off-service hours , which may involve preparing food elements for other tour components or operational needs. These tasks are completed separately from guest dining times and help support the broader operation. Key Responsibilities Prepare menu items according to established recipes and standards set by the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Restaurant Manager Operate kitchen equipment, including Traeger smokers, to prepare designated menu items for buffet service Assist with food prep, line cooking, and buffet setup for a high-volume, set-menu operation Maintain buffet food stations throughout service, ensuring proper temperature, cleanliness, and presentation Complete food preparation tasks for other tour components during non-dining room hours Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, cutlery, glassware, kitchen tools, and equipment Clean kitchen floors, workstations, storage areas, and remove trash as needed Keep storage areas, coolers, and cupboards clean, organized, and properly stocked Assist with receiving inventory, proper storage, and basic inventory organization Support service staff and kitchen team during high-volume periods Qualifications Experience Prior restaurant or kitchen experience in any capacity- required Experience with buffet-style or BBQ operations- a plus Skills & Abilities Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and food safety Flexible and adaptable to changing daily needs and schedules Good interpersonal skills for interacting professionally with guests and coworkers Willingness to assist wherever needed to support kitchen and service operations Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to 8 hours per day Ability to perform repetitive tasks, including lifting, bending, and cleaning Why You'll Love Working Here Become part of a company that values collaboration, development, and excellence and join a fun, creative, and supportive team Be part of a unique Alaskan dining and tour experience, serving guests from around the world.
