Jul 20, 2026 Job Description Kindergarten•3rd Grade Literacy Coach•This is a full-time Literacy Coach position housed at Berrien Primary School. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience and hold a valid GA Teaching certificate; Master's degree preferred. Reading Endorsement or LETRS training preferred. Experience serving as an instructional coach, mentor teacher, or literacy leader Candidate must be able to communicate effectively and have strong interpersonal skills, as well as possess effective data-based, problem-solving skills. Candidate must provide research and share content knowledge and strategies with staff exclusively aligned to the science of reading. Candidates should also be knowledgeable in assessment techniques, as well as assessment development and data analysis. Candidates must exhibit deep expertise in phonics and foundational skills, small group instruction, progress monitoring and screener data. Physical demands•position requires significant standing and some sitting, kneeling and walking. Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling will not normally exceed thirty (30) pounds and will normally be in the area of ten (10) pounds. Must be able to move about the classroom and monitor student behavior. The position has a 200-day contract. The position has an independent supplement. Literacy Coach Job Description Basic Job Responsibilities Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school's literacy goals and School Improvement Plan. Support the implementation of Georgia's literacy initiatives and requirements outlined in HB 1193 and related state literacy legislation. Support teachers in implementing evidence-based reading instruction for students in grades K-3. (¾ of time will be spent at BPS and ¼ at BES() Participate in state, district, and school-based literacy professional learning opportunities. Remain current on literacy research, instructional best practices, and Georgia literacy requirements. Provide teachers with access to professional resources and research-based instructional materials. Assist in creating and implementing a district unified literacy plan. Promote the use of evidence-based literacy practices aligned to the Science of Reading and structured literacy approaches. Support school-wide implementation of standards-based literacy instruction and assessment practices. Collaborate with administrators and teachers to establish measurable student learning goals based on literacy data. Provide ongoing, job-embedded professional learning focused on: Science of Reading Structured literacy Foundational literacy skills Evidence-based instructional practices Data-driven instructional decision making Work side-by-side with teachers in classrooms through: Coaching Modeling lessons Co-teaching Co-planning Observation and feedback cycles Demonstrate effective literacy instructional practices and intervention strategies. Provide prompt, constructive feedback to teachers to improve literacy instruction. Guide teachers in developing rigorous, standards-aligned literacy tasks and instructional units. Support teachers in differentiating instruction using multisensory and multimodal instructional strategies Prepare teachers to provide explicit, systematic, sequential, diagnostic, and cumulative instruction in: Phonemic awareness Phonics Vocabulary Fluency Reading comprehension Train and support teachers in the use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessment data. Assist teachers in using assessment results to differentiate instruction and plan interventions. Use weekly and monthly collaborative meetings to support continuous instructional improvement. Work directly with individual students and small groups of students as time permits and as needed to support literacy growth. Assist in identifying students who may require targeted intervention and support. Support the implementation of evidence-based literacy interventions.Position Type:
