Load Planner / Dispatcher

Silver Trucking is seeking an organized and motivated Load Planner / Dispatcher to join our operations team. This position is responsible for planning freight, dispatching drivers, monitoring shipments, and ensuring loads are covered efficiently and on time. We are looking for someone who can work in a fast-paced trucking environment, communicate effectively with drivers and customers, and solve operational problems quickly while maintaining strong attention to detail. Responsibilities Plan and dispatch loads Find backhaul freight using DAT and freight brokers Ensure all freight is covered efficiently and on time Communicate load information, pickup/delivery appointments, and updates to drivers Monitor driver progress and shipment status throughout the day Handle operational issues including delays, reschedules, breakdowns, and service concerns Coordinate with customers, brokers, drivers, and operations staff Verify driver assignments make operational and logistical sense Monitor planning boards and ensure accurate load updates Help minimize deadhead and maximize truck utilization Work closely with fleet operations, safety, and maintenance teams Maintain strong communication with drivers and provide timely operational support Assist with resolving service failures and urgent load issues Qualifications Previous dispatching, planning, or trucking industry experience required Strong communication and multitasking skills Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Understanding of trucking operations and Hours of Service required Ability to work well with drivers, customers, and office staff Compensation Competitive pay based on experience starting at $55,000 +Bonuses Performance bonus opportunities available Paid time off Advancement opportunities Full-time position
