Loader Operator

Job Summary The Front End Loader Operator supports firewood production and yard operations by safely and efficiently operating a front end loader to move logs, firewood, and related materials. This role may also involve operating a firewood processor as needed. The position is essential to maintaining steady production flow, safe yard conditions, and quality firewood handling from unloading through processing and storage. Key Responsibilities Operate a front end loader to move, stack, and stage logs, bark, and debris Load logs onto firewood processors, conveyors, and splitters to maintain consistent production Operate a firewood processor when required to cut and split logs according to size specifications Load bundled or loose firewood into trucks, trailers, kilns, or storage areas Maintain clean, organized, and clearly separated piles for different wood species, lengths, or moisture status Inspect equipment daily and report mechanical or safety issues promptly Perform basic equipment maintenance including fueling, greasing, and cleaning Work closely with processor operators, and yard staff to ensure safe coordination Follow all safety procedures related to heavy equipment, log handling, and yard traffic patterns Assist with yard cleanup, snow removal, and other material‑handling tasks as needed Qualifications Experience operating a front end loader or similar heavy equipment required Firewood processor operation experience preferred Knowledge of safe log handling practices and equipment load limits Ability to work in a fast‑paced, outdoor production environment Strong attention to safety, efficiency, and situational awareness Ability to follow verbal instructions and basic production requirements Physical Requirements Ability to sit while operating equipment for extended periods Ability to climb into and out of heavy machinery multiple times per shift Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally Work Environment Outdoor firewood and log yard setting Exposure to noise, wood debris and changing weather Seasonal production demands during peak months may add to overtime Equal Opportunity Statement We are an equal opportunity employer committed to providing a respectful and safe work environment.
