Local Class A Driver

Company Overview W&A Distribution is a family owned and operated company based in Fort Atkinson Wisconsin. We are seeking a professional Local Truck Driver (class A tractor-trailer) to operate within a 200-mile radius of our home terminal. This position primarily supports the transportation of finished products from manufacturers to our warehouse. This is a full-time, local position allowing drivers to be home daily and is Monday through Friday. Responsibilities Transport products safely and efficiently to various locations within designated routes. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety compliance. Maintain accurate logs of deliveries and vehicle maintenance records. Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route changes or delivery issues. Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while on the road. Assist with loading and unloading freight as needed. Requirements One year of tractor-trailer driving experience required Drivers must pass a DOT physical and drug screen Be punctual, dependable, flexible and customer-focused Start times may vary frequently and early morning starts are common Excellent communication skills required Have knowledge of city and state locations throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest and a strong awareness of Federal and State truck-approved highways No more than 3 employers in the past 12-months Monday - Friday (an occasional Saturday or overnight trip is possible) Must be 21 or older Physical requirements Extended periods of driving Regularly independently move items weighing up to 50 lbs. and occasionally items up to 75 lbs. to assist customers in unloading, if required. Flexibility and strength to complete thorough equipment inspections. Frequent dropping/hooking. Schedule may include overtime hours that are paid as time and a half.
