Job Description
Simplicity Air Midwest is a family-owned and operated business operating in a unique space: designing and manufacturing air conditioning, heating, and idle reduction systems for emergency vehicle, mining, municipal, agricultural, work-truck, and off-road vehicle OEM customers. We leverage our extensive field experience to design systems that incorporate innovation, serviceability, economics, and quality, ultimately enhancing our customers' products. Simplicity Air Midwest has an immediate opening for a Logistics Associate. We are seeking an individual for a challenging and rewarding role in an extremely fast-paced environment where they can learn something new every day. The Logistics Associate is responsible for managing inventory, shipping, and receiving, and for ensuring efficient supply chain operations in the warehouse. Tracks shipments, maintains inventory accuracy, and coordinates with carriers and team members to meet delivery deadlines. This role requires strict adherence to shipping specifications and inspections and must approve all goods entering or leaving the building. Job Duties
- Take full ownership and responsibility for the shipping and receiving area.
- Responsible for all incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Oversee the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries.
- Perform quality audits of the condition of shipped goods for both incoming and outgoing items before signing off.
- Follow procedures associated with the position.
- Responsible for the movement of shipments from the shipping and receiving platform to inventory and work areas.
Receiving Shipments:
- Unload and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
- Verify packing lists and purchase orders against received items.
- Document and report any discrepancies or damages.
Handling Inventory:
- Organize and store received goods in appropriate locations using Spire.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using Spire.
Preparing Shipments:
- Pick, pack, and label items for outgoing shipments or production needs.
- Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
- Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation, and if multiple items are in each shipment, ensure item lists are complete. Logistics Coordination
- Prepare, schedule, and coordinate all shipment needs with different carriers/couriers.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers for timely dispatch.
- Get quotes from shipping companies.
- Create a daily shipment schedule.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare bills of lading.
- Ensure all shipping documentation is complete and accurate.
- Update Spire with tracking information.
- Manage customers' orders. Product Assembly
- Assemble products if required by customers.
- Pick parts for production.
- Support production activities by ensuring jobs are loaded correctly and materials are available.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure products meet established standards
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate forklift, hand truck, or other equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods.
- Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify the supervisor of repairs.
- Accountable for the forklifts to ensure they have the required maintenance scheduled and are in good, safe working conditions.
- Complete the daily inspection checklist.
Maintaining Work Area:
- Keep shipping and receiving areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents.
Communication:
- Track shipments and verify receipts of shipments as required.
- Report discrepancies to the Operations Supervisor.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Communicate effectively with carriers regarding shipments.
Record Keeping:
- Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking in Spire.
- Maintain detailed records of all incoming and outgoing shipment documents.
- Track and report on shipping and receiving metrics Experience and Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, Technology or Warehouse Program - Preferred.
- 5 years of experience in warehouse/materials management/logistics in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- 3 years of experience with sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
- Ability to accurately match packing lists, purchase orders, and inventory records.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Strong computer literacy, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and e-mail).
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in all areas of work.
- Exceptional organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
- Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour.
- Ability to identify and resolve issues with shipments and inventory.
- High level of integrity, work ethic, and positive team attitude.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, safe lifting and handling procedures and best practices in shipping and receiving environments.
- Capability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Ability to weigh and measure items.
- Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job. What Success Looks Like

Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a half-hour unpaid lunch.Wage:
