Overview
THE ROLE

The Position:
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible to manage all aspects of logistics throughout Great Dane's supply chain for its production facilities. This requires maintaining and organizing efficient transportation to meet production requirements including scheduling delivery of raw materials to multiple manufacturing facilities. The Coordinator will also schedule delivery of finished goods (trailers) to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Coordinate transportation with carriers from vendors to ensure safe and timely pickup and delivery of production parts. Ensure plants have inventory to support production schedule without inflating inventory. Continually reviews freight costs to keep costs down where possible. Monitoring shipments, costs, correct routing, and timeliness. Streamline shipping and transportation processes. Review open purchase orders from vendors to optimize routing. Address and resolve shipment shortage and damage claims. Serve as liaison between suppliers, carriers, purchasing departments, and warehouses. Assist purchasing in order quantity needs to maximize transportation costs versus inventory levels. Consolidate orders to minimize LTL & parcel shipments from suppliers. Approve/resolve carrier invoice issues. Coordinate delivery of finished goods with Sales/Customers. Maintain inventory and shipping records of finished goods. Develop and maintain carrier relationships. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
)
Education:
Bachelor's degree in business or logistics preferred but not required.
Experience:
1-3 years of experience in the Logistics or Transportation industry. 1-3 years of experience in Procurement/Purchasing/Materials Planning or Scheduling/Supply Chain.
Skills:
Good communication skills and professionalism are a must when dealing with peers, customers, and sales personnel in the office, on the phone or via e-mail. Ability to work under stress in fast paced environment. Constantly having to react to problems. Ability to multi-task and meet time requirements while addressing additional requests in a timely manner is necessary to succeed in this position. Well organized and efficient problem solver. Able to work independently and able to make decisions on own. Knowledge with Microsoft Office programs to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. and the ability to learn company specific software (JD Edwards). Knowledge of a TMS system would be a plus Use of office machines such as phones, fax, copiers, and scanners.
Travel:
Minimal between plants and Corporate offices
