Job Description
Come join the Smart Sand team! We are a fully integrated sand supply and services company, offering complete sand, logistics, storage, and management solutions to our customers with our in-basin trans-loading terminals and our smartsystem storage capabilities. We own and operate premium frac sand mines and related processing facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois, which have access to three Class I rail lines, allowing us to deliver products substantially anywhere in the United States and Canada. We are seeking candidates to join our Load Out Crew . Load Out Crew members are responsible for operating various equipment through the use of computer controls in order to load rail cars with finished quality sand product for shipment. The position will work under the supervision of the Logistics Supervisor, but will require taking direction from other Smart Sand managers. This position is based primarily at our Blair, WI facility. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Works with Locomotive Operator on hopper car spots and movement. Helps with product transitions. Inspects hopper car for product loading Properly pulling samples from each rail car and documenting for QA testing. Inspects hopper car after product loading, for possible contamination. Maintains accurate loading records. Connects loading equipment to the hopper car. Inspects and ensures loading unit equipment is working properly. Loads hopper car according to loading procedures, quality standards, and safe practices. Checks the hopper car after loading to ensure there is no leaking product. Communicates with management on any problems that occur. Secures loaded hopper cars. Receives and transmits information by radio and telephone. Couples and uncouples cars, operates switches, and makes minor repairs to railcars, including replacing heavy couplings or air brake hoses. Maintains awareness of surrounding area and suspicious activity to ensure all rail safety. Wears all protective clothing that may be required to transfer the product in a manner that ensures maximum personal safety. Performs other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Prior rail, transload, or refinery experience preferred. MSHA training and experience is also a plus. Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision. Good judgment is required. Must be adaptable and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have high safety standards for self and others. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others.
