Shelburne Community School (SCS) is seeking a high-energy and dynamic Long-Term Substitute Art Teacher to join our school team for the 2026-2027 school year. This anticipated coverage is scheduled from August 19, 2026, through December 23, 2026. We are looking for a professional who can motivate every student to discover their creative potential, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment where students develop a lifelong appreciation for the visual arts. Primary Responsibilities Implement a standards-based art curriculum centered on the National Core Arts Standards and visual literacy. Effectively integrate solid content knowledge into teaching plans, making connections between art and other disciplines. Work cooperatively with special educators, PT, and OT to support students of all abilities and provide adapted art opportunities. Create and maintain an environment of respect and rapport while using strong classroom management. Develop differentiated instruction and responsive intervention strategies using trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices. Accurately assess student learning based on Vermont Standards to guide instruction and provide timely feedback to families. Effectively utilize 21st-century technology to enhance instruction and student learning. The Ideal Candidate Will Possess Current Vermont Professional Educator's License or eligibility for licensure in Art Education. Bachelor's degree and working knowledge of Vermont adopted standards. A strong understanding and passion for working with children. The flexibility to engage in team teaching and contribute positive energy to a collaborative faculty environment. A commitment to inclusivity, dependability, and a "what's best for students" mindset in all decision-making. Ability to effectively and regularly communicate with families regarding student progress and program goals.
