To Be Determined Job Description The Mount Greylock Regional School District is seeking a qualified and student-centered Long-Term Substitute Teacher to serve in a Grade 5 classroom at Lanesborough Elementary School. This assignment is expected to begin in June of the 2025-2026 school year and continue through the start of the 2026-2027 school year, with an anticipated end date of October 31, 2026 (or upon the return of the permanent faculty member). Lanesborough Elementary School serves students in PreK-6 and is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment grounded in restorative practices and high expectations for all learners.
Responsibilities:
Assume full teaching responsibilities for a Grade 5 classroom, including planning, instruction, and assessment Deliver standards-aligned instruction across core content areas, including literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies Utilize district-adopted curriculum materials (e.g., Wit & Wisdom and aligned instructional resources) with fidelity Establish a positive classroom culture that reflects restorative practices and promotes student engagement Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic and social-emotional needs of students Collaborate with grade-level team members, specialists, and support staff to ensure cohesive instructional programming Monitor student progress using formative and summative assessments and adjust instruction accordingly Maintain timely and accurate records of student performance and attendance Communicate effectively with families and caregivers Participate in school-based meetings, professional collaboration, and required duties
Qualifications:
Valid Massachusetts DESE license in Elementary Education (Grades 1-6) preferred Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred Demonstrated knowledge of elementary instructional practices and child development Experience implementing standards-based curriculum and assessment practices Familiarity with MTSS frameworks and differentiated instruction Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
Compensation:
Daily sub teacher rate: $120/day (non-degreed), $180/day (degreed), or $210/day (MA DESE licensed or retired educator) Long-term substitute rate of $260/day applies after 10 consecutive days in the same assignment
Additional Information:
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of required background checks, including
SAFIS CHRI
(federal fingerprint-based) and CORI (state) reports, in accordance with MGL Chapter 459 of the Acts of 2012
