August 31, 2026- November 23, 2026 Position Overview Swampscott Middle School is seeking a highly qualified and compassionate Long-Term Substitute Learning Center Teacher to support our specialized special education program.
Targeted Delivery:
Provide specialized instruction and necessary accommodations to students with disabilities, including autism, learning disabilities, and mild intellectual disabilities.Curriculum Adjustment:
Modify the general education curriculum to grade-level entry points as needed, and implement functional and vocational curricula as applicable to the program.Social-Emotional Learning:
Facilitate social skills groups and utilize incidental teaching techniques to build social-emotional proficiency.Framework Implementation:
Apply professional knowledge of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Social Thinking Curricula, and Zones of Regulation to support student self-regulation. Behavioral Support & Case ManagementBehavior Support Plans:
Implement established behavior support plans and collect rigorous data to inform progress, adjustments, and daily interventions.Compliance Documentation:
Complete required student evaluations, draft Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and write detailed progress reports within designated timelines.Professional Collaboration:
Consult and collaborate regularly with general education teachers, specialist staff, and administrators to ensure student success across settings.Family Engagement:
Maintain proactive, transparent, and frequent communication with families regarding student progress and adjustments. Professional ReliabilityConsistent Attendance:
Maintain strict punctuality and daily attendance throughout the duration of the long-term substitute assignment (August 31, 2026- November 23, 2026) to preserve programmatic stability.
Licensure:
Valid Massachusetts DESE Certification in Moderate Disabilities (appropriate for the middle school grade level).Specialized Knowledge:
Required proficiency in ABA principles, Social Thinking Curricula, Zones of Regulation, and functional/vocational instruction.Compliance:
Successful completion of a Massachusetts CORI and fingerprint-based national criminal background check.
