Job Goal:
The Speech and Language Pathologist will collaborate with parents, teachers, and students to promote a healthy learning environment that focuses on the cognitive, social, emotional, and personal development of all students.
Qualifications:
Must possess and maintain proper certification by state law and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction license #1820 Current First Aid/CPR certified or willing to obtain Demonstrated ability to: work collaboratively carry out emergency/crisis response procedures perform all computer technology tasks associated with the position maintain confidentiality communicate positively/effectively with students, parents, staff, patrons Commitment to the Pulaski Board of Education Educational Philosophy Demonstrated skills in positive human relations and cultural competence Demonstrated skills in problem solving and conflict management Ability to work collaboratively with students, professional staff, support staff, administrators and parents to improve the academic, social and emotional development of children with disabilities Work collaboratively with and provide consultation to school and community agency personnel Knowledge of IDEA and special education law and processes Experience with developing, writing, and implementing IEPs Knowledge of Section 504 legislation and processes Skills and knowledge related to RTI, PBIS, and Interventions Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong planning and organizational skills Efficiency with time management
Essential Job Functions:
Interest in working with children of all ages. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC's) certification or Clinical Fellowship Year (CYF) candidates desired. Demonstrate leadership and ability to work effectively with student groups and individuals. Desire to work collaboratively with other professionals and integrate therapy into the classroom. Demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills. Case manage Speech and Language students for the district including: initial assessment, IEP development, progress monitoring, MA billing, and intervention. Knowledge and/or experiences in techniques to provide services for children with different types of disabilities. Have current knowledge of Speech and Language assessment tools. Have understanding of or willingness to learn communication devices and how to best support student's communication needs with them. Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director/Assistant Director of Student Services.
