Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in students' lives while advancing your career in special education. This contract opportunity focuses on supporting middle and high school students in a cross-categorical setting, serving individuals with a range of mild-to-moderate disabilities. As a Special Education Teacher, you will foster an inclusive, dynamic classroom environment, providing individualized instruction and support to help every learner thrive.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education certification (License #2801) is required Prior experience working with students on the autism spectrum preferred Strong understanding of cross-categorical programming and best practices in special education Commitment to inclusive education and adapting to diverse learning needs Effective communication and collaboration with families, general educators, and support staff Flexibility and organizational skills to support a range of student abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver instruction and adapt curriculum for middle and high school students with varied needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and regularly monitor progress, making data-driven adjustments as needed Collaborate with staff across disciplines to ensure students receive comprehensive support Cultivate a positive, supportive, and structured classroom atmosphere Engage parents and guardians in the educational process, maintaining open, professional communication Taking on this contract role, you'll become a valued resource in a cross-categorical special education classroom and make a visible impact on students' growth from August 18, 2026, through June 10, 2027.
