Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A pharmacy professional is needed for a contract assignment in the Vineland, NJ area, working within a long-term care setting. This 8-week opportunity involves day shifts with some evenings and rotating weekends.
Key responsibilities include:
Accepting and dispensing prescription medications while monitoring patient medication compliance and usage patterns. Ensuring all medication supplies comply with legal standards and prescribed medicines are appropriate for patients. Maintaining accurate, confidential patient records and pharmacy files. Advising patients on medication usage, possible reactions, and answering their questions. Providing consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions. Offering patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring. Educating patients on the correct use and handling of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters. Compounding medications and preparing sterile solutions following established procedures. Supervising pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks. Managing pharmaceutical and medical inventory levels. Collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to address drug-related issues.
Qualifications and desired experience:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree is required. Current and active pharmacy license in New Jersey. Experience in long-term care pharmacy preferred. Strong communication skills and attention to detail. Ability to supervise staff effectively. This role requires a professional able to start as soon as possible due to a slow vendor update process.
