Machine Operator

Job Title:

Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a skilled Machine Operator to join our team in operating and setting up press machinery. The ideal candidate will be adept at setting dies and setting up the safety equipment on various machines. You should be comfortable working with parts that are similar in nature but vary in size or detail. The role also involves obtaining first piece inspection release, checking work during production for dimensions, burrs, cracking, or buckling, and visually inspecting components for any obvious damage or defects before swaging. Responsibilities Experience as a die and machine operator Set up and operate press equipment, including die installation and stroke adjustments. Install and verify all required safety devices prior to operation. Perform work on similar parts with variations in size and detail. Secure first-piece approval before production and maintain quality throughout the run. Inspect parts during production for dimensional accuracy and defects such as burrs, cracking, or distortion. Conduct pre-swaging visual checks to identify damage or nonconformance. Essential Skills Experience as a die and machine operator. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Proficiency in machine setup and punch press operations. Familiarity with production processes and forklift operation. Tool and die knowledge. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in punch press or similar machine setup and operation. Capability to perform multiple setups with different size dies. Experience making adjustments during production. Troubleshooting skills to resolve issues without stopping production flow. Ability to operate a sit-down forklift for material handling. Work Environment The work environment requires normal work clothes, steel toe boots, and safety glasses. The first shift runs from 6:00am to 2:30pm, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays if necessary. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carpentersville, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
