Job Title:
Machine Operation Lead Job Description The Machine Operation Lead oversees daily machine operations in a high-volume food manufacturing environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable production. This role combines hands-on machine operation and maintenance with leadership responsibilities, including guiding a production team, meeting production targets, and upholding quality and safety standards. Responsibilities Lead a team of machine operators to achieve daily and long-term production goals in a food manufacturing facility. Oversee machine operation activities, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and within established parameters. Perform and coordinate preventative maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. Conduct routine equipment maintenance, including inspection, adjustments, and minor repairs, to maintain optimal performance. Operate and monitor Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems to control, adjust, and troubleshoot production processes. Manage and execute production changeovers, ensuring smooth transitions between products or batches with minimal disruption. Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and operational issues on machines and equipment, resolving problems promptly. Ensure machine setup is completed correctly, including calibration, alignment, and verification of safety systems before production begins. Enforce and promote machine safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and safe work habits within the team. Conduct quality inspections and oversee inspection processes to ensure products meet established quality standards. Monitor production output, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions to improve performance. Handle disciplinary actions and performance issues within the team in alignment with company policies and expectations. Train and mentor team members on machine operation, safety practices, quality standards, and maintenance procedures. Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to coordinate repairs, upgrades, and process improvements. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and production-related documentation as required. Essential Skills Proven experience as a Machine Operator in a manufacturing or production environment. Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading a team and overseeing production goals. Hands-on experience with preventative maintenance on production machinery. Strong machine operation skills, including setup, start-up, and shutdown procedures. Ability to perform equipment maintenance and basic mechanical troubleshooting. Experience operating and monitoring Human-Machine Interface (HMI) systems. Knowledge of hydraulics and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems. Experience performing changeovers efficiently and accurately in a production setting. Familiarity with machine safety practices and adherence to safety protocols. Ability to perform quality inspections and ensure compliance with quality standards. Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly identify and resolve mechanical and operational issues. Effective communication skills to direct, coach, and support team members. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a food manufacturing environment is beneficial. Background in inspection and quality inspection processes. Experience with machine setup, calibration, and verification. Comfort working with automated systems and production technology. Ability to handle disciplinary actions and performance management in a fair and consistent manner. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and reporting. Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large, climate-controlled food manufacturing facility, with some areas kept at cooler temperatures to support product quality and safety. You will work around production machinery, automated systems, and HMI-controlled equipment, following strict safety and cleanliness standards typical of food manufacturing. Appropriate work attire and personal protective equipment will be required in production areas to meet safety and hygiene expectations. The environment emphasizes safe machine operation, consistent production flow, and adherence to quality and safety protocols. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Villa Rica, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
