Job Description

Job Title:
CNC Machinist Job Description This role involves setting up and operating 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines in a job-shop environment, performing complete changeovers, and ensuring high-quality production using Fanuc controls. The CNC Machinist will interpret blueprints, apply GD&T principles, and use G&M codes to produce precision components while supporting a clean, efficient, and safety-focused shop. Responsibilities Set up and operate Haas, Okuma, Hwacheon, and DMG Mori 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls in a job-shop environment. Perform complete changeovers and setups, including tooling, workholding, and program selection, to support efficient production. Execute required program edits and offsets to achieve accurate dimensions and ensure first piece inspection approval. Accurately measure parts using appropriate inspection tools and document all required quality data and production records. Apply blueprint reading and GD&T principles to verify that parts meet all dimensional and tolerance requirements. Use G&M codes to adjust and troubleshoot programs as needed to optimize performance and part quality. Operate other CNC equipment as needed to support production demands and maintain workflow. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety and quality procedures. Collaborate with team members and leadership to identify opportunities for process improvement and cross-training on multiple machine styles. Essential Skills Minimum 3 years of CNC setup experience in a machining or job-shop environment. Minimum 3 years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints. Minimum 3 years of experience applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing). Minimum 3 years of experience working with G&M codes for CNC programming and edits. Hands-on experience operating 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines. Ability to operate and adjust Haas, Okuma, Hwacheon, and DMG Mori machines using Fanuc controls. Strong understanding of CNC machining centers and machining processes. Ability to accurately measure parts and complete associated quality documentation. Solid knowledge of g-code and m-code, including making offsets and minor program edits. Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and work instructions. Working knowledge of GD&T to ensure parts meet dimensional and tolerance requirements. Basic familiarity with grinding operations or related finishing processes. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in a job-shop environment with varied, low-to-medium volume work. Ability to operate multiple styles of CNC machines and willingness to cross-train. Comfort working with Fanuc-based controls across different machine brands. Experience operating additional CNC equipment beyond milling machines. Ability to troubleshoot machining issues and suggest process improvements. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to quality and productivity. Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with peers and supervisors. Work Environment This position operates on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some overtime that leadership actively works to limit. The shop is clean and relatively well-lit, providing a professional and orderly workspace. The lunch and break room is climate controlled, offering a comfortable area for breaks, while the main shop itself is not climate controlled. Employees have the ability to cross-train and develop on multiple styles of machines, working with Haas, Okuma, Hwacheon, and DMG Mori equipment using Fanuc controls in a busy environment where business has grown significantly since late 2025. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Muskego, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
