Machinist / Fabricator (CNC, Manual & Waterjet Skilled Role)

Full Job Description AyersTech Waterjet Cutting is seeking a highly capable Machinist / Fabricator — not a production operator. This role is for a self-sufficient, experienced machinist who can set up, run, troubleshoot, and move between jobs independently. This position combines CNC machining, manual machining, and waterjet cutting , along with fabrication work in a fast-paced, job shop environment. If you need constant direction or have only run pre-set programs, this role will not be a fit. Primary Responsibilities Set up, program edits, and operate CNC equipment (mills, waterjet systems) Perform manual machining (mill, drill press, surface grinder, etc.) without supervision Execute precision waterjet cutting work , including setup, material selection, and quality verification Read and interpret blueprints and complex drawings with minimal guidance Hold tight tolerances and verify work using precision measuring tools Perform job changeovers, troubleshooting, and process adjustments Assist with fabrication including press brake forming and MIG/TIG welding Maintain and calibrate equipment as needed Safely handle materials using forklift and overhead crane Required Qualifications (Non-Negotiable) 3+ years of hands-on machining experience (CNC + manual) in a job shop or similar environment Proven ability to set up and run jobs independently (not just operate) Strong blueprint reading and problem-solving skills Experience holding tight tolerances and performing own inspections Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple jobs Ability to lift 40-50 lbs and stay active throughout the shift High school diploma or GED Highly Preferred (What Sets You Apart) Waterjet cutting experience Press brake setup and operation MIG and/or TIG welding experience Experience in a custom/job shop environment (non-production) Ability to estimate job steps, improve processes, or suggest efficiencies Pay & Benefits $26-$32+/hour , depending on experience, independence, and versatility Higher pay considered for candidates with strong multi-skill capability Paid time off (PTO) Paid holidays 401(k) Supplemental insurance Schedule Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Additional Information Drug screen required About AyersTech AyersTech is a precision-focused, non-production job shop specializing in waterjet cutting, machining, and custom fabrication.
