MA/CMA

FMC Health in Canyon is seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Assistant (MA) to join our team. The MA will work under the direction of a physician or other healthcare provider to assist in the delivery of patient care. The MA will perform various clinical and administrative tasks to ensure high-quality and efficient patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information. Assist with examinations and procedures, including specimen collection, wound care, and medication administration. Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis, blood glucose, and hemoglobin A1C. Perform basic clerical tasks, such as scheduling appointments, answering phones, and updating patient records. Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and availability of necessary supplies. Ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols. Administer medications and injections as ordered by the physician or other healthcare provider. Provide patient education and instruction regarding treatment plans, medication use, and follow-up care. Communicate with patients regarding test results and follow-up appointments. Participate in quality improvement activities related to patient care. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited medical assistant program required. Current certification as a medical assistant through a recognized national certification agency, such as the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). 1-2 years of experience in a clinical setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy and physiology. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff. Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficient in computer skills with experience in electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
